Nature Explorers

July 2025

Rising 6th-8th Graders

Nature Explorers

In this 5-day field research experience, teens will learn about the forest in and around Cal-Wood, while tent camping at one of our beautiful group campsites! Through hands-on research with scientists and professors from CU and CSU, teens will explore topics such as fire ecology, forest restoration, Colorado wildlife, and astronomy. They will gain confidence in doing science outdoors and learn about STEM careers.

Teens will also participate in hiking, archery, tree climbing, and fishing. Campfires, s’mores, night hikes, games, star gazing, making new friends and connecting to the beautiful mountains of Colorado will make this an amazing summer experience! This is a grant-supported program for any high school students who are interested in science, research, and outdoor recreation. Cost includes meals and tents.
